Landlord Insurance for your rental property.

Renting out a property is a business, and a standard homeowners policy won't cover it. Landlord (dwelling-fire) insurance protects the building, your liability as a landlord, and the rental income you'd lose if a covered loss makes the unit uninhabitable.

Landlord insurance FAQs

Can't I just use my homeowners policy?

No — homeowners policies are for owner-occupied homes and can deny claims on a rental. Renting out a property requires a landlord/dwelling-fire policy.

Does it cover my tenant's belongings?

No. Your policy covers the building and your liability; your tenant's belongings are their responsibility, which is why you can require renters insurance.

What is loss of rent coverage?

If a covered loss makes the unit uninhabitable, it reimburses the rental income you lose during repairs.

Do I need it for a short-term rental?

Often yes, and sometimes a specialized short-term-rental policy — platform protection alone usually leaves gaps in liability and property.
